This is our moment

8 December, 2009

Dear Friend

If you wish you could make a difference to stop dangerous climate change, this is your moment. Our moment.

This Saturday, 12 December, thousands of Australians like you will take to the streets in the Walk Against Warming. It is part of a Global Day of Action where hundreds of thousands of people all over the world will stand up for action on climate change.

Walk with us.

For the next two weeks, the eyes of the world are on Copenhagen where more than one hundred world leaders are meeting to forge a new global treaty to save the climate. The outcome will depend on how much pressure leaders feel from people at home – from people like you and me.

This is the moment for us to turn our fears and hopes into action. This is the moment to stand shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of thousands of people from all corners of this beautiful planet and say YES to a fair, ambitious and legally binding treaty to protect the climate.

Early next week, Kevin Rudd will be packing his bags for Copenhagen. Let’s give him a send-off that he can’t ignore. If you have waited for your chance to tell our leaders you want action, seize your moment this weekend. Join the Walk Against Warming in a city or town near you.

We must rise together on climate change, and this is our moment. Help make it big, make it bold, make it beautiful, and make it loud! Make sure you wear your blue laces, bring your banners and carry your signs. And if you are in Melbourne or Sydney keep an eye out for the Greenpeace bathtub.

In solidarity,

John Hepburn

PS: Please tell all of your friends and family, your neighbours, your workmates. Send this email to everyone you know. Call them, Facebook them, Twitter and shout from the rooftops. Do all you can from now until Saturday and bring them along.
